On a crisp fall evening on October 2, groups of female lawyers, dressed in professional attire, trickled into Goose Island Brewery, a newly-opened brewpub in downtown Toronto.
They were attending the seventh annual welcoming event for articling students put on by Young Women in Law, a non-profit organization for female lawyers in the early stages of their practice.
For many attendees, this was their first time at a YWL event. It gave them a chance to get to know the organization and to meet other articling students in the Toronto region.
“We’re excited to welcome all of the 2017/2018 articling students,” said Laurel Hogg, vice president and director of membership at YWL, in an interview. “This is an exciting opportunity to meet and establish connections with other women in the legal community. We would like to extend a special thank you to TransPerfect Solutions for sponsoring this event annually, and we look forward to seeing new faces at upcoming YWL events!”
