Stick to your budget
What it looks like isn’t nearly as important as having one. Whether it’s scrawled in a notebook or on a fancy spreadsheet, what matters is knowing where your money’s going.
Pack your lunch
Just do it.
Walk
It’s free, and your calves will look great.
Only borrow what you need
Just because the bank will give you a squillion dollars via student loans doesn’t mean you have to take it and spend it. Soon enough you’ll be paying that money back. This goes double for credit cards.
Kill the cable
And avoid pricey movie theatres too. Instead, subscribe to Netflix. (Netflix Canada has gotten way better. Promise.)
Buy used
Craigslist, eBay and Value Village have an ample selection of clothes. Much of it is nicer than the stuff on the clearance rack at Banana Republic
Just be a student
The nice cars and fancy suits will come later; right now’s the time to brag about how far you were able to stretch a can of chili. (Pro tip: Add rice to it.)
